Pope Francis Concludes ‘Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture’ with a Call for Hope and Unity

Vatican City – February 18, 2025
Pope Francis has officially concluded the “Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture,” a four-day event held as part of the ongoing 2025 Jubilee celebrations. The event, which ran from February 15 to 18, brought together artists, intellectuals, and cultural leaders from around the world to engage in a dialogue on the role of art and culture in fostering hope and unity.
The Vatican hosted an array of distinguished figures, including renowned film director Tim Burton, acclaimed actress Monica Bellucci, and award-winning production designer Dante Ferretti. Their participation underscored the intersection of faith and the arts, highlighting how creativity can be a vehicle for spiritual reflection and social transformation.
During the final gathering at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis addressed the audience, emphasizing the power of artistic expression in shaping a better world. “Artists have the ability to create bridges where division exists, to give voice to the voiceless, and to illuminate the beauty of humanity,” the Pope stated. He urged the attendees to use their talents to promote peace and understanding in a world increasingly marked by discord.
The event featured several key moments, including an international symposium titled “Sharing Hope – Horizons of Cultural Heritage,” held in the Vatican Museums. The symposium focused on preserving artistic traditions while embracing innovation to reach new generations. Another highlight was the unveiling of the Window Gallery on Via della Conciliazione, an initiative designed to showcase contemporary works of art that reflect spiritual and ethical themes.
As part of the Jubilee celebrations, Pope Francis also reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to supporting artists and cultural figures in their creative pursuits. “Art is not only a reflection of beauty but also a means of expressing truth and justice,” he said. “It is our responsibility to ensure that the cultural heritage of humanity remains a beacon of hope for future generations.”
The Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture aligns with the broader mission of the 2025 Jubilee, which carries the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” Throughout the year, various events are planned to inspire faith, solidarity, and renewal among Christians and people of goodwill worldwide.
With the successful conclusion of this cultural jubilee, the Vatican continues to emphasize the essential role of art in spiritual life, reinforcing the message that creativity is a divine gift meant to uplift and unite humanity.
