Coronavirus: Sustaining your faith in times of Uncertainty

We live in dubious times. The coronavirus is spreading rapidly, and at great cost to global economies, governments are calling for emergency measures to bring the aggressive coronavirus under control. The number of affected persons dying is rising speedily every new day. Not to talk of closing of schools, travel bans, cancellation of events, and even closure of churches.
Everywhere you turn today, coronavirus has dominated the discussion on board. The discourse on social media, in print, on the news, everyone is talking about coronavirus. Fears are rising all around the world. What does this mean to you as a Christian? Christ reminds us in Luke 21:31, “Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near”.
Are the leaders of this world humbled by the reality, that no army in the world can stop it, and that their nuclear weapons cannot prevent it? Their technology and science have failed them?
In these uncertain times, the Bible assures us about certain truths that cannot be denied. The early church was no stranger to epidemics and plagues. They experienced their equitable share of uncertainty.
Should Christians panic? Do we have a hope, a Protector, a Comforter? Yes! One thing that occurred to me whilst writing this post, however, is that I never really touched on a topic that seems to be especially important right now in the midst of fear and panic the world is having a hard time. Read carefully the following bible verses talking about how and where we need faith in the midst of turbulent times like this. I hope you find them uplifting as well.
Psalm 46:1-3 – “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging”
God reminds us not to fear in Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – God says be strong and courageous. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you”.
As the scripture verses above illustrate, we’re told to call on Jesus Christ, and that he will hear us and give us strength, hope, and grace sufficient to carry us through. Let those verses dissolve into your fearful mind and give you credence.
What we put into our minds hang around in there. And while we get carried by the news, out there, we will always fear. But if faith comes by hearing the Word of God, we’ll never have faith when we feed only on what the world says. Instead, read the scriptures. You are so fortunate to have the Bible so you can read the truth and find answers.

Putting on “The Whole Armor of God”
As Christians, we are called to put on the whole armor of God, as it says in Ephesians 6:11-18. This is not just a suggestion or a nice thing to do; it is a command from God Himself. The spiritual battle we face is real, and we must be prepared if we hope to emerge […]
Christian faithWailing Or Waiting?
Waiting is difficult. It’s one of the most difficult things God asks us to do, especially for people like me who are still learning patience. The Bible in Isaiah 40:31 says; “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not […]
