Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi Shares His Thoughts Ahead of The Elections

The Executive President of Ghana Baptist Convention and the Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi has shared his thoughts concerning how Ghana can achieve a peaceful election.
In an exclusive interview on SBN’s program, “The Race to the Seat”, he urges all Ghanaians to build a confidential system where credibility is achieved.
He said that the National Peace Council in collaboration with many organizations has set up a group they called “The Early Response Group.” He said that this group is in two folds: the national and regional group. The purpose of the group is to monitor the happenings at the local and regional levels during elections and to send responses to them of any important data. He urged citizens not to send any unverified information to the social media platforms rather they must find the team in working and report to them.
He said the team has been categorized into the receiving unit, analysis unit, and then the response unit. If any information given is credible, then attention will be given to it but if not, no attention will be given.
Also, he tackled the issue of vigilantism, saying that the two major political parties, i.e the NPP and NDC have signed a peaceful document on preventing any vigilante attacks during election day at the various polling stations. He said that both parties must stick to their signing.
He then outlined the role of the Peace Council in the issue of vigilantism. He said that they have rolled out the vigilantism education exercise, which seeks to cover all the constituencies in Ghana
This exercise will educate the youth on fighting to cause chaos, and that if you are found guilty to disobey the law on vigilantism, the law will respond back.
He added that all Contesting parties must accept the result of the election.
“…..accept the result, this is the will of the people.”
“Let us built confidence in our system, and let us move this country forward,” Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi.
