Is Christianity All About Going to Church?

Recently, I came across some elderly women I was to help complete some forms. I was struck by one of the elderly women’s comment. She asked I choose Christianity as her religion, since she is a Church attendee once in a while. The others confirmed she is a Christian because of her association with the Church.
It got me thinking. Is Christianity all about going to church? Does occasionally or even regularly attending church make you a Christian? I don’t think so.
The Pharasees and Saducees were in the temple, more times than the disciples or even Jesus, but they were never called Christians. So I ask again, is Christianity all about attending church? I don’t think so. Christianity is the life we live outside the church. Our lives, from when church closes, till the next church service is what shows if we are Christians or not.
The disciples were called Christians, not because they were in church, but because they were living like Christ. Do our lives reflect that of Christ? Can people say we are like Christ? Do we stand out in the crowd or do we just follow the flow and do what is termed as normal? Are we really Christians or are we just bearing the title because we go to church and say a prayer or two when we are in trouble? Do we know the Christ in the Christianity we profess to belong to? Coming to church without the God of the Church is nothing.
We are not defined by what we do on Sundays in church. It’s what we do and how we live Monday through Saturday, when no one is watching, that defines us. It’s life, and we all have a chance to make a difference as we live our lives between Sundays. Life really is about how we live it between Sundays, not on Sundays.
