Great Fatherhood – Part 1

In life, there is no responsibility greater and more rewarding than being a Great Father.
(Read Matt. 6:9; Genesis 17:4-8).
Right from the day you make that decision to add someone as a wife or wives to your life, through your marriage, to pregnancy, to delivery room and back home, to nurturing children and tutoring, school days to their graduation day, when they also start working, build their lives, they marry and reproduce their kinds, bring their children or your grandchildren to you for your blessings and guide, counseling, till the day you leave this earth, your responsibility as a father does not end, it continues unabated.
The irony of this role is that there is no school, college, or training center for Great Fathers.
Being a great father does not only start when you give birth and does not end when you die on this earth. It continues to the next generation. Great fathers leave legacies.
Q. Who is a great father?
He is a visionary man, a leader of the home, not a house, provider for the family, protecting his family — wife and children and households from all dangerous world trends and attackers, teaching and training his children to be responsible adults, building legacies of godly character and substance for his children.
Though societies and times have changed, the principles of Fatherhood never change.
Q. What are the Challenges of becoming a great father?
There are millions of things that seem to be against a father’s success. Each challenge is a test to the power within the individual to choose to do what is right or yield to the desire to follow their natural corrupted tastes. Note, not many fathers are great. So becoming a great father takes a lot of effort.
Q. How are great fathers known?
Great fathers leave enduring legacies. These enduring legacies are:
a) Good Name. Proverbs 22:1.
b) Godly Character. Genesis 18:17-19. Abraham scenario.
c) Godly Seeds. The seeds here refer to those who know God and fear God. 1John 3:1.
d) Godly Wisdom.
True wisdom does not come from living more days or years. True wisdom solves real problems. How do you determine your advice will solve the real problems and not just feelings or temporal circumstances?
Be a great Father.
