GPCC Week 2026: Ghana's Pentecostal and Charismatic Council Calls the Nation to "Reflect Christ"

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has concluded its 2026 GPCC Week celebration, observed from Monday, 5th to Sunday, 11th October 2026, under the theme "Reflecting Christ", drawn from Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Guided by an official week brochure, member churches and zones across Ghana followed a seven-day programme that took the theme from the home, to the workplace, to the community and finally to the gathered church.

The theme: a command, a purpose and a goal

The brochure's exposition noted three levels in Matthew 5:16: a command ("Let your light shine before others"), a purpose ("That they may see your good deeds") and an ultimate goal ("And glorify your Father in heaven"). Using the story of Joseph in Genesis 39 as a case study, believers were reminded that Christ's followers are the light of the world by identity, not aspiration, and that the aim of shining is never self-promotion but the glory of God.

Day by day

Day One, Monday 5th October: Reflecting Christ Among Those Who Know You

The week opened at home, the "first mission field". Believers were challenged to let their light shine before their closest relationships, through forgiveness (Matthew 18:21-22, Ephesians 4:32) and active love (1 John 3:18, John 13:35).

Day Two, Tuesday 6th October: Reflecting Christ as God's Ambassador in Your Workplace

Focusing on the workplace, the teaching highlighted shining through integrity, excellence, compassion and forgiveness, and hard work and humility, drawing on Proverbs 11:1, Proverbs 22:29, Colossians 3:12-14 and Philippians 2:3.

Day Three, Wednesday 7th October: Keep Your Light On, Keep Your Fire Burning

Believers were reminded that keeping the light shining is a personal responsibility (Leviticus 6:12-13). Since Jesus is the original Light (John 8:12), the light is sustained by staying connected to Him through the Word, obedience, fellowship and prayer.

Day Four, Thursday 8th October: Shining Through the Fire of Trials and Persecutions

Drawing on 1 Peter 1:6-7 and 1 Peter 3:15-16, the day taught that the most powerful testimony often emerges from pressure and pain, and that believers are to respond to offence with gentleness and respect rather than retaliation.

Day Five, Friday 9th October: Works of Light That Bear Witness to a Glorious God

Centred on "good deeds" and "glorify", the teaching, citing Acts 10:38, called believers to do visible, excellent and noble deeds without announcing them, so that people trace the beauty back to God and glorify Him.

Day Six, Saturday 10th October: Social and Community Interface

Zones and local churches were encouraged to organise Christian social gatherings and community engagement, including environmental clean-ups, hospital visitations, and visits to prisons and orphanages with donations of simple consumables.

Day Seven, Sunday 11th October: Reflecting Christ as a Community of Believers

The week closed with the church as a collective light. Citing Ephesians 5:8-9, Philippians 2:14-15 and John 13:34-35, the message described the church as "a candleholder that holds many flames", a community defined by love, grace, truth and the power of the Holy Spirit, and ended with the question: "Are you shining? This is our calling. This is our mission. This is our joy."

About the GPCC

The brochure also recounted the Council's history. Proposed in 1969 by Rev. J. K. Gyan-Fosu of the Assemblies of God, it was founded as the Ghana Evangelical Fellowship on 3rd March 1969 by the Assemblies of God, Christ Apostolic Church, The Apostolic Church and The Church of Pentecost. It later became the Ghana Pentecostal Fellowship (1977) and the Ghana Pentecostal Council (1981), and on 10th February 2011 was renamed the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council. Its slogan is "GPCC! Unity in the Spirit!" and its vision is to be a voice of fellowship that shapes the growth and development of the nation through the gospel of Christ.
