In a significant development for faith-based entertainment, “The Chosen,” the acclaimed series depicting the life of Jesus Christ, has secured an exclusive streaming agreement with Amazon’s Prime Video in the United States. Creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins announced on February 16, 2025, that all existing and forthcoming seasons will be available on Prime Video, with new episodes streaming exclusively for 90 days before becoming accessible on “The Chosen” app.
Season 5, titled “The Chosen: Last Supper,” is slated to premiere in U.S. theaters on March 28, 2025, and will subsequently be available on Prime Video in June. The series is planned to conclude with Seasons 6 and 7, focusing on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, respectively.
Jenkins emphasized the importance of maintaining free access to the series through the app, stating that while Prime Video will have a 90-day exclusive window for new episodes, they will remain free to watch on “The Chosen” app thereafter. He also highlighted that the partnership with Amazon allows for greater resources and reach, while ensuring he retains total creative control over the series.
Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting the potential to develop additional faith-inspired content for Prime Video’s global audience. The deal also includes plans for Amazon MGM Studios to distribute feature-length episodes from Seasons 6 and 7 in theaters, and provides Jenkins with a first-look agreement to develop new projects through his 5&2 Studios.
This partnership signifies a notable expansion in the availability of “The Chosen,” aiming to reach a broader audience while preserving the series’ mission to offer accessible, faith-based storytelling.
